Before chartering a bus, ask about the insurance coverage the company carries, and what the requirements they have for their bus operator partners. BusBank will only work with operators who have $5mm in insurance for their larger vehicles, and $1.5mm in insurance for their smaller vehicles (less than 15 seats.)
BusBank carries its own insurance policy of $5 million above and beyond the bus operator’s insurance for any trip. States like California require $5mm in insurance from any company that charters buses (like BusBank,) and requires that the company operating the buses (over 15 seats) are insured to that level as well.
